Whatnot is live selling. You run a show, buyers bid or buy in real time, and items sell in seconds. For clothing resellers it can move volume fast, but the fees work a little differently from the closet apps.
Whatnot’s fees for US sellers

Two different bases:
- Commission is charged on the final sale price, excluding shipping and taxes. If an auction starts at $1 and ends at $20, the commission is on $20.
- Processing is charged on the total order value: the item, any shipping the buyer pays and buyer-paid taxes.
Fees are calculated per checkout, even if purchases are later bundled into one shipment.

The $0.30 fixed fee barely registers on a $50 item but matters on $3 and $5 auctions. If you cover part of the shipping to win bidders, Whatnot deducts that from your earnings too.
What tends to work for clothing on Whatnot
Practitioner guidance, not Whatnot data:
- Themed shows. Vintage tees, outdoor gear or a single brand give buyers a reason to stay.
- Items that show well on camera. Texture, graphics and fit you can demonstrate live.
- A clear starting-price strategy. $1 starts draw a crowd but guarantee nothing. Only start low on items where the crowd reliably pushes the price up.
