Thrift Snap: Should I buy it, and what do I net?
Everything on this site, compressed into about eight seconds. Photograph the piece and Thrift Snap identifies it, prices it against real eBay sold comparables, subtracts your marketplace’s fees, and tells you what you’d actually net.
How a scan works

Photograph the piece
A clear shot of the garment, plus the tag if you can. Photos are EXIF-stripped and downscaled on your phone before they leave it.

It identifies what you're holding
Brand, item type, likely era. This is the part that takes a human several seasons to learn.

Real sold comparables
eBay completed sales for the item as identified — what buyers actually paid, not what sellers are asking.

Fees come off
Your marketplace’s commission, per-order fee and your shipping estimate are subtracted, so the number you see is take-home.

Buy or skip
A plain recommendation against your own profit floor, in time to act on it while you’re still at the rack.

Title, description and category written from the photo, formatted for the marketplace you picked.
Where the numbers come from
Only eBay publishes real completed-sale data, so eBay is the only marketplace where Thrift Snap shows you sold prices. Poshmark, Depop and Mercari figures are AI estimates, and they are labelled estimated everywhere they appear — in the app, in exports, and here. They are useful for comparison and they are not sold data, and we will not present them as if they were.
Method — Marketplace fee models in the app use each marketplace’s published US seller fees, the same figures documented and sourced in Reseller fees explained. Estimated prices are model output, not observed transactions.

- What does Thrift Snap do?
- Thrift Snap identifies a piece of clothing from a photo, pulls real eBay sold comparables to estimate what it resells for, subtracts the fees for the marketplace you sell on, and gives you a net profit figure and a buy-or-skip recommendation before you buy the item.
- Where do the prices come from?
- eBay figures come from actual completed sales, not asking prices. Estimates for Poshmark, Depop and Mercari are AI estimates and are labelled as estimates everywhere they appear in the app — they are never presented as sold data.
- Is Thrift Snap free?
- Yes, with a limited number of scans each month and no card required. Premium removes the limit and starts with a 3-day free trial.
- Does it work on things other than clothing?
- It is built and tuned for clothing, shoes and accessories — that is where the reseller workflow and the fee models are focused. It will attempt other items, but clothing is what it is good at.
- What happens to my photos?
- Photos are stripped of EXIF metadata and downscaled on your device before anything is sent. Analytics never receives your photos, prices or personal content.
- Is there an iPhone version?
- Not on the App Store yet — the iOS build is in TestFlight and is coming soon. Android is available on Google Play now.
