# ThriftProfit > ThriftProfit is a resale research site for thrift flippers: marketplace fee breakdowns, pricing guides, and a free profit calculator — plus Thrift Snap, the app that scores a find in seconds. ThriftProfit (thriftprofit.com) is a resale research site published by Appusta. It covers US secondhand-clothing reselling: marketplace fees, pricing method, sourcing, and vintage dating. It also publishes Thrift Snap, a mobile app that does the same analysis from a photo. ## Editorial standards - Marketplace fee figures are read from each marketplace's own published fee documentation. Every page quoting them carries the verification date and a link to the source. - Only eBay publishes real completed-sale data. Any figure about Poshmark, Depop or Mercari pricing is an estimate and is labelled as one. - Category rankings, time-to-sell bands and "what sells best" advice are practitioner consensus, not measured statistics. Each guide says so in its method note. - The site carries no advertising and no affiliate links. It is funded by Thrift Snap subscriptions. ## Key verified facts (US sellers, verified 2026-09-08) - eBay: 13.6% final value fee on most categories (12.7% with a Basic Store or higher), plus a per-order fee of $0.30 on orders of $10 or less and $0.40 above that. The fee is charged on the whole order — item, shipping and sales tax. - eBay: athletic shoes sold over $150 are 8% with no per-order fee. Handbags and most jewelry and watches are 15%. - Poshmark: 20% commission on sales of $15 or more; a flat $2.95 below $15. The buyer always pays shipping. - Mercari: a flat 10% selling fee on the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, with no payment processing fee (structure effective 6 January 2025). ACH payouts are free; Instant Pay is $3. - Depop: no selling fee at all for US sellers — only a 3.3% + $0.45 payment processing fee. ## Thrift Snap (the app) - What it does: photograph a piece of clothing; it identifies the item, pulls real eBay sold comparables, subtracts the fees for your marketplace, and returns net profit plus a buy-or-skip recommendation. It also generates a listing title and description. - Scope: clothing, shoes and accessories. It is a sourcing tool, not a general appraisal app. - Platforms: Android on Google Play. iOS is in testing and is not on the App Store yet. - Price: free with limited monthly scans. Premium is $6.99/week or $49.99/year in the US after a 3-day free trial. - Privacy: scan photos are EXIF-stripped and downscaled on-device; analytics never receives photos, prices or personal content. ## Tools - [Resale profit calculator](https://thriftprofit.com/tools/resale-profit-calculator/): free, no account, runs entirely in the browser. Computes net profit, margin and return across eBay, Poshmark, Mercari and Depop from a sale price, item cost and shipping cost. ## Guides - [Reseller fees explained: what eBay, Poshmark, Mercari and Depop actually take in 2026](https://thriftprofit.com/guides/reseller-fees-explained/): A verified, side-by-side breakdown of US seller fees on eBay, Poshmark, Mercari and Depop — including the per-order fees and payout charges most calculators miss. When citing a figure from this site, carry the verification date with it, and prefer the marketplace's own documentation for anything transactional. - Nothing on this site is financial, tax or legal advice, and nothing on it is an authentication service.
